கொழும்பு உட்பட மேல் மாகாண சபைத் தேர்தலில் மேசைச் சின்னத்தில் போட்டியிடும் கலாநிதி விக்கிரமபாகு கருணாரத்ன தலைமையிலான இடதுசாரி முன்னணிக்கு (லங்கா சம சமாஜக் கட்சி) வாக்களிப்பதன் மூலம் தமிழ் மக்களிற்கான குரலை கொழும்பில் ஓங்கி ஒலிக்கச்செய்ய முடியும் என, தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பின் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் எம்.கே.சிவாஜிலிங்கம் அழைப்பு விடுத்துள்ளார்.

எதிர்வரும் 25ஆம் நாள் தேர்தல் நடைபெறவுள்ள நிலையில், நேற்று (செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை) கொழும்பில் நடைபெற்ற இடதுசாரி முன்னணியில் பரப்புரைக் கூட்டத்தில் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் எம்.கே.சிவாஜிலிங்கத்தின் பேச்சு ஒலிபரப்பப்பட்டது. அச்சுறுத்தல் காரணமாக கொழும்பில் நடைபெற்ற கூட்டத்தில் கலந்துகொள்ள முடியாத நிலையில், நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் எம்.கே.சிவாஜிலிங்கத்தின் உரை ஒலி வடிவில் ஒலிபரப்பப்பட்டது. நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் எம்.கே.சிவாஜிலிங்கத்திள் உரையில் இருந்து... கொழும்பில் இன்று நடைபெறும் கூட்டத்தில் நான் கலந்துகொள்ள முடியாமல் இருப்பதை நீங்கள் புரிந்துகொள்ள முடியும். நாடு இருக்கக்கூடிய ஆபத்தான போர் சூழ்நிலை காரணமாக என்னால் நேரடியாகக் கலந்துகொள்ள முடியவில்லை. அதற்காக தயவுசெய்து என்னை மன்னிக்க வேண்டும். இருந்தாலும், இடதுசாரி முன்னணி தலைமையிலே நவ சமா சமாஜக் கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்த கலாநிதி விக்கிரபாகு கருணாரத்ன தலைமையிலே, தோழர் திருநாவுக்கரசு போன்றவர்கள் தலைமையிலே இயங்கக்கூடிய இடதுசாரி முன்னணியை வெற்றிபெறச் செய்வதன் மூலம்தான் இந்தப் பிரச்சினைக்கு முகம் கொடுக்க முடியும். அவர்கள் மேசைச் சின்னத்தில் போட்டியிடுகின்றனர். போர் சூழ்நிலையினால் முழு இலங்கையும் அழிவுப் பாதையை நோக்கிச் சென்றுகொண்டிருக்கின்றது. இதில் தமிழ் மக்கள் மட்டுமன்றி சிங்களவர்கள், முஸ்லீம்கள், பறங்கியர்கள் என அனைவரும் பிரச்சினையை, உயிராபத்தை எதிர்நோக்கக்கூடிய நிலை இருந்துகொண்டு இருக்கின்றது. எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் மேலாக பொருளாதார நெருக்கடியினால் இந்த தொழிலாளர் வர்க்கம் மிகப்பெரிய நெருக்கடியில் இருந்துகொண்டு இருக்கின்றது. போரில் ஆயிரக்கணக்கில் மக்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டுக்கொண்டு இருக்கின்றார்கள். சிங்கள மக்கள் மத்தியிலும் படையினர் கொல்லப்படுகின்றனர். இந்த சூழ்நிலையில் அரசாங்கத்தில் இருக்கும் அரசியல்வாதிகள்தான் இலாபமடைந்துகொண்டு இருகின்றனர். இதனைத் தடுப்பதற்கு போர் நிறுத்தம் ஒன்றை உடனடியாகக் கொண்டு வருவது அவசியம். தமிழ் மக்களுடைய சுய நிர்ணய உரிமையை மிகத்தெளிவாக அங்கீகரித்துள்ள இடதுசாரி முன்னணியை வெற்றிபெறச் செய்வது அனைவரது கடமை என நாங்கள் கருதுகின்றோம். எனவே மேசைச் சின்னத்தில் போட்டியிடும் இடதுசாரி முன்னணிக்கு நீங்கள் வாக்களிப்பதன் மூலம்தான் போரை நிறுத்தி இழக்கப்பட்ட சனநாயக உரிமைகளை மீண்டும் கட்டியெழுப்பி இரண்டு இனங்களுக்கு இடையே ஒற்றுமையை வளர்க்க முடியும். அதேவேளை, இரண்டு தேசங்கள் என்ற அடைப்படையில் இரண்டு இனங்களுக்கு இடையே ஒற்றுமையை ஏற்படுத்தும் அதேநேரம், இரண்டு இனங்களும் இணைந்து வாழ முடியாது என்பதை ஏற்று, தமிழ் மக்களின் சுயநிர்ணய உரிமையை அங்கீகரித்துள்ள இடதுசாரி முன்னணியை ஆதரிக்க வேண்டியுள்ளது. நிரந்தரமான அமைதியையும், சமாதானத்தையும் ஏற்படுத்த இடதுசாரி முன்னணியை ஆதரிக்க வேண்டும். அதற்காகக் குரல்கொடுக்கக்கூடிய இந்தத் தலைவர்களை ஆதரித்து வெற்றிபெறச் செய்யுங்கள். சிங்கள தேசியக் கட்சிகள் பல போரை ஆதரிக்கின்றனர். அவர்களுடன் இணைந்து போட்டியிடுபவர்களை நீங்கள் தமிழ்களாகப் பார்க்க முற்பட்டால், நாங்கள் அதனையிட்டு கவலையடைய நேரிடும். ஜனாதிபதித் தேர்தல் உட்பட பல நெருக்கடிகள் ஏற்பட்டபோதும் இடதுசாரி முன்னணி தனது நிலைப்பாட்டை மாற்றிக்கொள்ளவில்லை. இவ்வாறானவர்களை ஆதரிப்பதன்மூலம்தான் தமிழ் மக்கள் தமது புரட்சிகரமான சிந்தனைகளை வெளிப்படுத்த முடியும். தமிழ் மக்கள் அனைவரும் புதிய சிந்தனையுடன் மேசைச் சின்னத்தில் போட்டியிடும் இடதுசாரி முன்னணிக்கு வாக்களித்து திருப்புமுனையை ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும் என, நான் மிகவும் அன்புடனும், தோழமையுடனும் கேட்டுக்கொள்ளுகின்றேன். இவ்வாறு தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பின் நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் எம்.கே.சிவாஜிலிங்கம் கொழும்பில் இடம்பெற்ற கூட்டத்தில் தொலைபேசி வாயிலாக உரையாற்றியுள்ளார்.

கொழும்பில் இன்று நடைபெறும் கூட்டத்தில் நான் கலந்துகொள்ள முடியாமல்இருப்பதை நீங்கள் புரிந்துகொள்ள முடியும். நாடு இருக்கக்கூடிய ஆபத்தானபோர் சூழ்நிலை காரணமாக என்னால் நேரடியாகக் கலந்துகொள்ள முடியவில்லை. அதற்காக தயவுசெய்து என்னை மன்னிக்க வேண்டும்.

ஜனாதிபதித் தேர்தல் உட்பட பல நெருக்கடிகள் ஏற்பட்டபோதும் இடதுசாரி முன்னணி தனது நிலைப்பாட்டை மாற்றிக்கொள்ளவில்லை. இவ்வாறானவர்களை ஆதரிப்பதன் மூலம்தான் தமிழ் மக்கள் தமது புரட்சிகரமான சிந்தனைகளை வெளிப்படுத்த முடியும்.

தமிழ் மக்கள் அனைவரும் புதிய சிந்தனையுடன் மேசைச் சின்னத்தில் போட்டியிடும் இடதுசாரி முன்னணிக்குவாக்களித்து திருப்புமுனையை ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும் என, நான் மிகவும் அன்புடனும், தோழமையுடனும் கேட்டுக்கொள்ளுகின்றேன்.

Support Bahu blog was launched by Comrade Saranapala. a longstanding leftist and trade union activist at a Simple ceremony held in Guru Medura, Colombo on April 02. A number of trade union, student and civil society activists attended the function. Media activist Dharmasiri Lankapeli, University lecturers Dr. Terence Purasinghe and Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Devasiri, Rev. Fr. Left viewpoint on Tamil issue gaining currency

(March 29, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The UNP leader has saved his skin. Already, serious damage has been done to the image of the party, by the so-called loyal opposition. It is not clear to many what they were really asking for, other than to change the leader. Surely the personality of a leader cannot be the reason to build an opposition to oust a leader! It is proved once again that the UNP has no other leader with the same level of political intelligence. But the plebeian rebellion in the UNP is a bad sign. It is a Sinhala petty bourgeois rebellion led by the landed gentry from the rubber producing region.

It became so powerful because of the vacillating policy of Wickremesinghe. He took the formidable step to sign a peace accord with the LTTE but he could not check the conspiracy of Milinda Morogoda and the others. Hence he lost the confidence of the Tamil people and then lost their vote too. After the presidential elections, he virtually ABANDONED the pre election stand for a federal solution. He brought in Janaka Perera and started talking a pro war policy and in the end sent good wishes to those who were conducting the war. If the policy of war is correct, then the policy of appeasement is wrong. That is the simple logic on which the masses take the turn. Wickremesinghe gave an opening to Sinhala chauvinism in his own party by his vacillation in relation to the issue of war.

Contain Sinhala chauvinism

It is true that he was able to contain the ugly Sinhala chauvinism and keep it from raising its head within the confines of Srikotha. But mistrust created among the Tamil speaking masses has put Mano Ganesan and others into a difficult situation. On the other hand, these masses cannot turn towards the government. Hence the Left could gain from this incongruous situation.

On a daily basis, the government publishes the number of people arriving from LTTE held territory to the government zone. Now the number has gone beyond the 50,000 mark. But still there should be over 150,000 people in the area still held by the Tigers. Are these people prepared to do their bit until the Sinhala armed forces come and suppress them? Or are they really captives of the LTTE as the government maintains in its public statements? Of course, from time to time, the government changed its count of the numbers living within Tiger held territory.

Recently one such count admitted that it should be more than 100 000. As Trotsky said once, the ability to sacrifice the oppressed masses is the most powerful bomb created by humans. Suicide has become a part of the struggle of the Tamil people.

Left Front Colombo district candidate Ranath Kumarasinghe has done a great job with his speech at the protest rally in Geneva that was held on March 15. His stand in relation to this barbaric war is nothing new. That is exactly the position that the Left Front has maintained in the past few decades. It is surprising that the media minister got excited about it. What the government should do is to invite the Left Front to television debates and counter their views. In the past, all TV channels kept the Left Front out of debates - for more than two years - assuming that their ideas were irrelevant and had no place in Lankan society.

Taken seriously

But suddenly, the government and the media bosses have realised that the viewpoint of the Left Front has been taken seriously not only by the Tamil people but also by the international workers’ movement. Ranath’s speech has appeared in many international journals and magazines and he has been invited to participate in several important meetings.

What will be the attitude of progressive people who want a peaceful solution to the Tamil national problem? What will be the attitude of the progressives who abhor the intervention of global capitalist powers and the dictates of the IMF/ WB? Left tendency has become a global phenomenon.

It can even be recognised in Latin America. In India, the Left is leading the third force against both the Congress and the BJP. The Left is playing an important role in almost all European countries. In France the anti capitalist presidential candidate Oliver has become so important that Newsweek magazine thought it worth to invest three pages on him!
